Men’s Ministry Resources for Small Churches

Simple, relational, effective. Free resources for men’s ministry in small and rural churches.

The Problem with Most Men’s Ministry

Most men’s ministry resources are built for large churches with dedicated staff, significant budgets, and men who will show up for a formal program. Small church men’s ministry needs to be different: simpler, more relational, and built around what men in your congregation will actually do.

What Actually Works in Small Churches

The Breakfast or Lunch Group

The most effective men’s ministry in a small church is often the simplest: a group of men who meet regularly for a meal and Bible study. Monthly is sustainable. Weekly is better if the group is committed. The format: eat together, read a passage, discuss it, pray for each other.

Service Projects

Men who will not come to a Bible study will often show up to fix a widow’s fence or help a family move. Service projects build community and give men a tangible way to live out their faith. Start with one project per quarter.

Accountability Pairs

Pair men together for monthly one-on-one accountability conversations. This requires almost no organization and produces significant discipleship fruit. The questions: How is your walk with God? How is your marriage/family? What are you struggling with? How can I pray for you?

Annual Retreat or Campout

One overnight event per year builds more community than twelve monthly meetings. It does not need to be expensive — a campout at a member’s property works as well as a retreat center.
