About MinistryPlace

We exist to serve the churches that most resources forget about. Built for the 91% of churches that have fewer than 100 in attendance, led by bi-vocational pastors, and powered by volunteers.

Our Mission

MinistryPlace exists to serve the churches that most resources forget about. The median American congregation has 70 people in weekly attendance. Seven out of ten churches have 100 or fewer. Nearly half of all evangelical pastors work a second job while leading a church. These churches are not the exception. They are the majority, and they deserve resources built specifically for their context.

Our Values

  • Biblical Over TrendyWe build from Scripture, not from the latest church growth fad.
  • Practical Over TheoreticalIf it does not work in a church of 40 people with a volunteer teacher, it does not belong here.
  • Affordable Over ExpensiveMost of what we offer is free. What is not free is priced for small church budgets.
  • Quality Over QuantityWe would rather build one resource that changes how a church operates than fifty that sit unread.
  • Volunteer-FriendlyVolunteers run small churches. Our resources assume no professional training and no dedicated staff.
  • Rural Communities MatterAt the center of everything we do is a simple conviction: rural communities matter, and the people who serve them deserve real support.

What We Believe

We hold to the historic, evangelical Christian faith as expressed in the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed, and summarized below. These are the essentials that have united orthodox Christians across denominations for centuries — not the distinctives of any one tradition, but the core convictions we share with the universal Church.

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the inspired, reliable, and authoritative Word of God. It is fully trustworthy in all that it affirms and is the final authority for faith and life.

The Triune God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are equal in power and glory, yet distinct in role. The Father renews and empowers. The Son saves and serves. The Spirit sanctifies and speaks.

God the Father

We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. He providentially sustains His creation, He is holy and just, and He is loving and merciful. He adopts all who come to Him through Jesus Christ into His family and calls them to participate in His redemptive mission.

Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, fully divine and fully human, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a substitutionary atonement for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended to the right hand of the Father. He will return in power and glory.

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who convicts the world of sin, regenerates believers, indwells every Christian, gifts the Church for ministry, and empowers believers to live godly lives and carry the gospel to the ends of the earth.

Humanity and Sin

We believe that God created humanity in His image, male and female, for fellowship with Him and stewardship of creation. Through the disobedience of Adam and Eve, sin entered the world. Every person is born with a sin nature and is sinful in thought, word, and deed. Apart from God’s grace, no one can be saved.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It is a gift of God, not a result of works. Jesus’ death and resurrection secured the forgiveness of sins and eternal life for all who repent and believe. The Holy Spirit regenerates the believer, who is then justified, being declared righteous before God.

The Church

We believe the Church is the body of Christ, made up of all believers across time and space. Local churches are gatherings of believers for worship, teaching, fellowship, baptism, the Lord’s Supper, and mission. The Church exists to glorify God and make disciples of all nations.

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

We observe baptism and the Lord’s Supper as Christ’s commands to His Church. We welcome to the table all who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ, regardless of denominational background, while recognizing that different traditions hold different convictions about the mode and meaning of these ordinances.

The Return of Christ and Final Judgment

We believe in the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the dead, and the final judgment. Those who are in Christ will inherit eternal life. Those who have rejected Him will face eternal separation from God. We hold this hope as a motivation for faithful ministry in the present.

Our Conviction

These beliefs are not creative or innovative. They are the historic, orthodox, evangelical faith — shared across Baptist, Anglican, Methodist, Reformed, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, Lutheran, and many other traditions that hold to the essentials of the gospel. We recognize and honor the genuine differences among evangelical denominations on secondary matters, and we have no interest in drawing lines that Christ himself has not drawn. What we affirm here is what has always been believed, everywhere, by those who name the name of Jesus.
