How does your Church/Ministry handle deadlines?

I have done ministry in primarily rural and suburban contexts. I have noticed one common factor among the churches I’ve worked with – deadlines are not handled well, no matter how much warning they have. You can be a year or two out on a relatively minor issue, and it may not get done on time.

But also, I’ve noticed in the last few years, it’s not just churches that have the issue. It seems to be somehow associated with the demographics of small town life. I might be on to something, or yet it just may be everywhere and a part of our “scatterbrained society”.

What are your experiences?
