Sparta is located in White County, a rural county in eastern middle Tennessee. Sparta has a population of about 5,000 people. White County is known for waterfalls, family farms, bluegrass music, and outdoor recreation. Sparta is approximately 15 miles south of Cookeville (pop. ~38,000).
About Fellowship Renewed Church
Fellowship Renewed Church began in 2015 as a group of like-minded believers and was incorporated as a church that same year. FRC is a family-integrated, non-denominational, growing church with an average Sunday attendance of 130-150 people. The church’s values include expository preaching aligned with Reformed Baptist theology, Christ-centered worship grounded in Scripture, meaningful membership, purposeful discipleship, authentic relationships, and missional living. FRC is elder-led, deacon-served, and congregationally-approved.
Position Description
Fellowship Renewed Church is seeking a Lead Pastor to serve as the primary teaching pastor and elder. The Lead Pastor will shepherd the church alongside the other elders and shall be recognized by the church as particularly gifted and called to the full-time ministry of preaching and teaching. Through expositional preaching, discipleship, and prayer, he will lead the church in the mission of “cultivating a mature community of faith and fellowship in the Word of God, by the Spirit of God, for the glory of God, proclaiming Christ to the world.”
Primary Responsibilities
1. Preaching and Teaching
Serve as the primary preacher of Sunday morning worship services (minimum 40 weeks per year) and Wednesday evening gatherings through faithful expositional preaching. Plan and organize weekly services, coordinate song selections with the worship team, and plan special services and teaching series.
2. Shepherding and Discipleship
Provide pastoral care and biblical counseling to church members. Provide vision and direction for the future of FRC. Equip members to grow in spiritual maturity. Lead in developing future elders and deacons.
3. Elder Leadership
Serve as a fellow elder alongside the elders to implement the church’s vision, disciple believers, provide shepherding to members, and implement church discipline when appropriate. Lead with wisdom, maturity, humility, theological conviction, and servant leadership.
Qualifications
- Must meet the biblical qualifications for elders (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4)
- Full agreement with Fellowship Renewed Church’s Statement of Faith
- Strongly aligned with Reformed Baptist theology and the five solas of the Reformation
- Commitment to expository preaching
- Master of Divinity preferred
- 5+ years pastoral ministry experience preferred
- Maturity, humility, transparency, strong marriage and family leadership (if married)
Compensation
- Annual Base Salary: $50,000 – $70,000 (DOQ)
- Insurance Allotment: additional 8% of annual base salary
- Retirement Allotment: additional 4% of annual base salary
- Total Salary Package: $56,000 – $78,400 (DOQ)

- Annual allowance for pastoral materials
