Position Description

Bovina Baptist is seeking an Associate Pastor of Music and Worship to serve in a dual role. The primary role is to oversee the worship ministry by leading the congregation, choirs, and worship teams in music. The worship service is a blended style using both traditional hymns and contemporary worship songs. The secondary role may be in discipleship, student/youth leadership, or other ministries aligned with the calling and gifting of the individual God calls.

Responsibilities

• Lead the congregation, worship teams, and choirs in consistent, Christ-centered worship
• Organize and lead rehearsals for instrumentalists, vocalists, and choir
• Fulfill the role of lead worshiper during regularly scheduled worship services and special services
• Develop others within the congregation to lead worship
• Cast vision for the worship ministry by teaching and reinforcing the biblical philosophy of worship
• Recruit, train, and organize musicians and volunteers
• Coordinate with the Senior Pastor and other staff to plan worship services well in advance
• Provide pastoral care to individuals involved in the worship ministry
• Manage and oversee the church’s music budget

Qualifications

• A growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
• Sound biblical theology with a deep understanding of the gospel
• BA, MA, or MDiv with theological training and experience in biblical worship (MDiv preferred)
• Preference of three years of significant vocational worship leadership experience
• Proficiency in at least one primary instrument
• Knowledge of worship-related technology including sound systems, video projection, and digital audio tools
• Excellent references attesting to biblical character, leadership ability, and love for the Word
