God Makes Adam and Eve

Overview
God made people very special! He didn’t just make us, He made us in His own image. That means we can think, love, create, and talk to God. God made the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, and put them in a beautiful garden. God made each one of us special too!
Bible Story
God had made the light, the sky, the water, the land, the plants, the sun, moon, stars, fish, birds, and animals. But God saved the best for last , He made people!
God said, ‘Let us make people in our image.’ That means God made people to be a little bit like Him. We can think and make choices. We can love and be kind. We can create beautiful things. Only people are made in God’s image!
God made the first man, Adam, from the dust of the ground. Then God breathed life into him, and Adam became alive! God made a beautiful garden called Eden for Adam to live in.
God gave Adam a job , to take care of the garden and name all the animals. But God saw that Adam was alone. ‘It is not good for the man to be alone,’ God said. ‘I will make a helper for him.’
God made Adam fall into a deep sleep, and from Adam’s side, He made the first woman, Eve. Adam was so happy! ‘She is part of me!’ he said. Adam and Eve were the first family.
God loved Adam and Eve very much. He walked and talked with them in the garden. Everything was perfect because God had made it all , and it was very good!
Activities
God Made Me Special Craft
Supplies: Paper plates or face-shaped cutouts, Yarn (hair), Googly eyes, Markers/crayons, Glue, Fabric scraps, Child-safe scissors
- Give each child a paper plate or face cutout.
- Let them create a self-portrait using the supplies: yarn for hair, googly eyes, markers for features.
- As they work, talk about how God made each person special and unique.
- Write ‘God made me special!’ on each portrait.
- Have each child share one thing that makes them special.
Name the Animals
Supplies: Picture cards of animals (or stuffed animals)
- Show animal pictures one at a time. Have children make the animal sound and movement.
- Ask: ‘What should Adam name this one?’ Let children suggest silly or serious names.
- Explain: ‘Adam got to name ALL the animals! That was his job from God.’
- Then ask: ‘Did God give YOU a job too? Yes! God made you special and has a plan for you!’

- What does it mean to be made in ‘God’s image’?
- What can you do that animals can’t do?
- Why do you think God saved making people for last?
- How did God make Adam? How did He make Eve?
- Does God love you? How do you know?
Prayer Focus
Thank God for making each person special and unique. Thank Him for making us in His image. Ask Him to help us use our special gifts to love Him and others.
Missions Spotlight
Among the Aeta people of the Philippines, one of the oldest indigenous groups in Southeast Asia, missionaries have found that the concept of being ‘made by God’ resonates deeply. The Aeta have a strong sense of community and family that opens doors for sharing about the God who made us all in His image, every person, every tribe, every nation.
To the Cross
God made people in His own image to be close to Him. But soon, Adam and Eve would disobey God and sin would enter the world. The image of God in people would be damaged, but not destroyed. Jesus came to restore what sin damaged. When we trust in Jesus, God begins to renew His image in us (Colossians 3:10). One day, we will be fully restored, perfect, just like God intended from the beginning.
