David and Goliath: The LORD Saves in Israel’s Battle — Grades 1–3 Lesson

Free grades 1–3 Sunday school lesson on 1 Samuel 17:1–58. This reviewed eight-page PDF includes two pages of full-chapter volunteer background, a complete teaching script, a timed plan, six printable sequence cards, a Bible source sheet with answers, and a family page.

It follows Goliath’s challenge, Israel’s fear, David’s delivery errand, Eliab’s accusation, Saul’s doubts and untested armor, David’s explicit trust in the LORD, Goliath’s death, Israel’s pursuit, and Saul’s final question about David’s father. The memory text is a genuine, labeled 1 Samuel 17:47 KJV excerpt. The guide states the violent outcome honestly without reenactment or weapon activities. It does not promise that children will win every personal fight and tells them to seek a trusted adult if unsafe. Jesus’ later gospel is distinguished from this ancient battle.
