It traces Saul’s pursuit, the cave, David’s robe piece and troubled conscience, his restraint of his men, his appeal from outside the cave, Saul’s tears and acknowledgment, the oath, and the separate paths at the end. The child memory is clearly labeled as a paraphrase. The guide says David’s mercy did not require him to return with Saul, and it tells children to seek trusted adult help when unsafe. It does not use this story to excuse abuse, secrecy, or unsafe contact.
