God’s rescue of Israel comes before the commands at Sinai. The child memory line is clearly labeled as a paraphrase of Exodus 20:2, while the adult guide prints the KJV verse. The lesson avoids frightening thunder effects and teaches that honoring parents never requires children to keep harm secret. Later gospel teaching is identified as coming from Romans 3:20–24 and 1 Corinthians 15:3–4. Read the complete passage in your preferred translation.
