God Provides a Ram: Abraham and Isaac — Junior High Sunday School Lesson

Free Junior High Sunday school lesson on Genesis 22:1–19. This reviewed seven-page guide, source study, teacher key, and family page gives volunteer teachers passage-specific context and a complete lesson plan. The text calls this a test; Isaac asks about the lamb; the angel of the LORD stops Abraham before Isaac is harmed; and a ram is offered instead. Isaac is not sacrificed. The covenant promise is repeated.

The lesson uses a clearly labeled Genesis 22:12 KJV excerpt for memory, distinguishes what Genesis says from later biblical reflection, and points to Jesus’ death for sins and resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:3–4). It does not reenact danger or teach children to obey threatening adults. Read the complete passage in your preferred translation.
