Scripture: Genesis 2:4-25
Theme: God made us to walk with Him
Age Group: Junior High (7th-9th Grade)
Lesson Overview
Genesis 2 reveals that humans were made for relationship with God. Adam and Eve walked with God in the garden — face-to-face fellowship with their Creator. God gave Adam meaningful work (caring for creation), community (Eve), and direct access to God Himself. Then sin shattered all of that. The rest of the Bible is the story of God restoring what was lost. Jesus is called the ‘last Adam’ (1 Corinthians 15:45) — He succeeded where Adam failed. In Christ, we regain what Adam lost: fellowship with God, purposeful work, and true community.
Connection to the Gospel
God breathed life into Adam, but sin broke that walk. Jesus came to restore our friendship with God (2 Corinthians 5:18).
