Scripture: Genesis 2:4-25
Theme: God made us to walk with Him
Age Group: High School (10th-12th Grade)
Lesson Overview
Genesis 2 presents the design for human flourishing: meaningful work, genuine community, and intimate fellowship with God. God didn’t just create humans — He walked with them. The Hebrew concept of ‘walking with God’ implies ongoing, intimate relationship. Sin destroyed this pattern, introducing shame, isolation, and death. The entire biblical narrative moves toward restoration. Galatians 3:28 tells us that in Christ, the barriers between people are broken down. Revelation 21:3 echoes Genesis 2 — God dwelling with His people again. The garden is restored in the new creation.
Connection to the Gospel
God breathed life into Adam, but sin broke that walk. Jesus came to restore our friendship with God (2 Corinthians 5:18).
