Pastor at Little River Baptist Church | SBC Virginia Pastor Little River Baptist Church | Bumpass, VA Posted Date 8/07/2026 Description Little River Baptist Church 4959 Buckner Road — Bumpass, Virginia 23024 Little River Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist congregation located in Louisa County in the small rural community of Bumpass, Virginia, with an average weekly attendance of about 60 for worship. We are conveniently located between Richmond, Charlottesville, and Fredericksburg, and just minutes from the Lake Anna community. Little River Baptist Church meets weekly to glorify God in worship, fellowship with believers, and provide a faithful witness for those in our community. We define our beliefs with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, and we cooperate with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) through the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia (SBCV). Little River Baptist Church was founded in 1791, and has maintained adherence to the inerrancy of Scripture and spreading the Gospel through expositional preaching, desiring to glorify God through worship, and evangelizing through missionary and community involvement. Little River Baptist Church desires a pastor with a shepherd's heart, with genuine love and care for the flock, as well as a heart of compassion for evangelizing and discipling, locally and globally. Pastoral Responsibilities: As the primary spiritual leader, the senior pastor will provide faithful, doctrinally sound preaching and teaching of the whole counsel of God to effectively acknowledge God's sovereignty. This includes leading the congregation weekly (Sundays and mid-week teaching) in much prayer, providing pastoral care and counseling, equipping members in the areas of ministry that promote spiritual growth, and leading in the ordinances. The senior pastor will also provide vision by working with deacons and other ministry leaders to guide Little River Baptist Church in the mission of outreach and discipleship within our local community. Biblical Qualifications for Candidates: Little River Baptist Church requires the candidate to meet the pastoral qualifications given in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9 and 1 Peter 5:1-4. Additional ideal qualifications include: • Cooperation of the SBCV, SBC, the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 • A life that exhibits integrity, spiritual maturity, and humility • Skill in leadership and the ability to teach and evangelize • Commitment to prayer and discipleship Application Requirements to submit: • Current resume • Cover letter describing personal testimony, philosophy, and calling • Statement of Faith • Links to current online sermons (audio or video) • References (may include personal and/or professional) Education Requirements: Little River Baptist Church prefers a seminary degree from an accredited Baptist institution, but will consider equivalent expericence and education.
