Our community is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual who, as our lead Pastor, will embrace our mission and values, motivating and guiding us in our spiritual journey. But Lakeside Hope hasn’t just been hoping and wishing God would send us a pastor who will allow us to stay the way we’ve always been. This is a church that has been working very hard to position ourselves for maximum Kingdom impact! For the past 16 months, Lakeside Hope has been rebuilding through a revisioning process under the guidance of NextStep Church Services (NCS). Our TIP (transitional interim pastor) came here with a mission: to lead the church from anxiety to anticipation. The goal has been to get the church refocused, healthier, and stronger so that a new pastor can come in and hit the ground running. This work is being accomplished primarily through the efforts of a Transition Team composed of both board members and non-board members. Concrete examples of our progress to date: We have moved out of an older, traditional building that was consuming increasing amounts of maintenance, repair, time, and resources Our new worship space, while somewhat limited in space, is a much newer, debt-free building across the street – sitting on seven acres of prime property New signage has been added to our two buildings, and the parking lot (which is more than adequate) and has recently been resurfaced and restriped The Church Board has been revamped: downsized for more efficiency and new members added to reflect a broader range of ages A Media Team was established early on to assist with all media and communication issues such as YouTube, Facebook, our website, and internal messaging A 5-point Action Plan was developed and all five points have been either accomplished and are now in operation or currently beginning implementation. We are excited to share that Action Plan with you! We have adopted a new church name that reflects our mission of sharing the hope of the Gospel with our community A recent merger with a nearby Nazarene church has resulted in new life, new workers, and new ministries that are a part of our vision Our senior adults have been very gracious and supportive, understanding that the church needs to move forward into a new era if we want to reach our community From the beginning we have been praying strategically through ten Prayer Bullets, beginning with #1: unity in the church family, a prayer that has been answered and continues to be in evidence Where are we? Demographics The Indian Lake area serves approximately 25,000-30,000 residents within a 10-mile radius. During peak summer weekends and holidays the temporary population grows to over 100,000 due to the influx of seasonal residents, campers, and tourists. Although there are several small stores and shops/restaurants in the area, Bellefontaine (15 min.) and Lima (25 min.) are easily accessible for more shopping/dining options. Indian Lake State Park is known for fishing, kayaking, camping, and boating. Also available are walking/bike paths and beaches for summer enjoyment. Indian Lake Schools are 7 miles from the church. Within a 10-mile radius, there are an estimated 2,500-3,100 residents below the age of 18. This would provide a strong opportunity for a Family/Children’s Ministry. With an average household income of approximately $62,000 but 12.5% living below poverty level, there is a strong need for community-based ministries. Who are we? Our Church – Lakeside Hope Our vision at Lakeside Hope is to share the hope we have in Jesus to reach, connect and serve every generation. We believe that intentional acts of service and faith create a ripple of hope that can bring spiritual renewal to our entire community. No gesture of love is too small to be used by God to change a life. As Christ moves in us, hope ripples through us! The mindset of the church is MISSION instead of MAINTENANCE. We are the only church of any kind on the north side of Indian Lake. Lakeside Hope has already accepted and embraced a contemporary worship style musically, but also has an appreciation for more traditional styles. There is a sweet unity in our church! Our total worship attendance is anywhere from 55-80 each week. Due to our location, we have some seasonal attendees, which alter those numbers during different times of the year. Our church has a long and honored history of financial stability and has believed in supporting the Church of the Nazarene at every level. We also anticipate an infusion of funds to be used for a new building after our former church sanctuary property is sold. We have several ministries throughout the week, including: Men’s Group, Women’s Group, Children’s Ministry, Teen Ministry, Recovery Meetings, Sunday School, and Worship Service. We worship in a well-maintained 3,500-square-foot facility and look forward with hope to a new building in the near future. Our seven-acre property offers ample room for future projects and ministries. We offer two different areas for basketball, a baseball/softball field, walking path, a children’s playground, and a fairly new pavilion for community use. What are we seeking? The Call Lakeside Hope Church of the Nazarene seeks a pastor with a deep passion for ministry and a heart for the lost, the broken, and those who are in need of hope. This leader will bring a missionary mindset, a shepherd’s heart, and the patience and commitment to make this Ohio community home. There is a very roomy and comfortable church parsonage available for transitional housing while you look for your own home, or as long-term housing if desired. We are a genuinely welcoming, engaging, loving and generous church family looking forward to welcoming a Lead Pastor and family who will be excited to join us and help us grow spiritually. We want our Pastor to aid us in reaching a lost community for the Kingdom. The church seeks a leader who can help discern and express God’s vision for its next season of ministry while building bridges to a broken and lost community. This leader will: Be an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene or actively seeking ordination. Support the NWO District in establishing strong, healthy, growing congregations. Be compassionate, hospitable, and socially engaged, especially with those separated from the hope and love of Jesus. Initiate new opportunities with a mindset of “WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE”. Practice faithful and diligent financial stewardship. Willing to step out in faith with vision for the future. Be faithful in the command of Jesus by making disciples and developing leaders to share the gospel, discern what others may not yet see, and guide people toward God’s vision and will.
