The Early Church — Sharing Everything (Nursery)

Scripture: Acts 2:42-47, 4:32-37

Theme: God’s family shares love and cares for each other like a big hug!

Age Group: Nursery (Ages 0-2)

Overview

Jesus’ friends shared everything with each other because they loved Jesus. We can share too. Optional reflection: children can draw a picture of Jesus helping their friends, then share one way they can help someone else this week. This extra activity supports the lesson’s theme and gives teachers a simple, lowprep option for extending the discussion.

Bible Story

The early church was like a big family that loved God and loved each other.

They shared everything, food, clothes, and even their homes, so no one went hungry or cold.

Because Jesus died for them, they decided to help everyone who needed it.

Activities

Share & Hug Sensory Bag

Supplies: small fabric bag, soft items (pompoms, stuffed animals, scarves), baby-safe fabric scissors (if cutting items), pictures of people hugging

  1. 1. Fill the bag with soft, safe items (no small choking hazards).
  2. 2. Let each child take turns sharing one item from the bag and hugging it.
  3. 3. Say, ‘Just like the early church shared love, we share love with friends and family!’

Love Sharing Craft (Ages 2-4)

Supplies: cardstock or paper, crayons/markers, glue sticks, pictures (optional: printed hearts or cut-outs from magazines)

  1. 1. Fold a sheet of paper in half to make a heart shape.
  2. 2. Let kids color the heart and glue on pictures of sharing (e.g., a plate of food, a toy, a hug).
  3. 3. Read: ‘The early church shared food, clothes, and hugs, just like God wants us to share love!’
