Why a Church Annual Report Matters

A church annual report is not a corporate document — it is a ministry story. It tells the congregation what God did through their church in the past year: how many people were served, how much was given, what ministries grew, and where the church is headed.

For small churches, an annual report builds trust, celebrates faithfulness, and gives members a clear picture of how their giving and service made a difference.

What to Include in a Church Annual Report

1. A Message from the Pastor

2-3 paragraphs reflecting on the year: what God did, what the church learned, and what you are believing for in the year ahead. This is the most-read section of any annual report.

2. Ministry Highlights

One paragraph per ministry area: Sunday school, youth, outreach, missions, worship, small groups. Focus on stories and impact, not just numbers.

3. Financial Summary

Total giving, total expenses, and ending balance. Break down expenses by category: ministry, facilities, staff, missions. Keep it simple — one page is enough for most small churches.

4. Attendance and Membership

Average weekly attendance, baptisms, new members, and membership total. These numbers tell the story of growth or stability.

5. Looking Ahead

2-3 goals or priorities for the coming year. This gives members something to pray for and work toward.
