Lesson Overview

Genesis 1 reveals that God created the entire universe by His word. He created light, sky, land, stars, sea creatures, birds, animals, and then human beings in His own image. This means every person has dignity and purpose because we are made by God and for God. Today, over 2 billion people worldwide do not believe in the one true Creator God. Many worship created things instead of the Creator. The creation story is the foundation for understanding who God is, who we are, and why Jesus came to restore all things.

In the beginning, God created everything — and He still makes all things new through Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17).
