The Church Started Here – Adult Edition (Ages 35-60)
The church did not start in a boardroom. It started in an upper room. Ordinary people, filled with the Holy Spirit, launched a movement that outlasted the empire that tried to destroy it.
This 12-session Bible study walks adults through the book of Acts with the depth and rigor this audience expects. Each session covers the historical context, the doctrinal foundations being laid, and the practical implications for how we live and lead today.
Each session includes:
- Scripture focus — Key passages from Acts with detailed exposition
- Historical and cultural background — First-century life in the Roman Empire
- Church history connections — How the early church’s decisions shaped Christianity across the centuries
- Doctrinal teaching — The theology of the Holy Spirit, the nature of the church, salvation by grace, and the mission of the church
- Discussion questions — For group study or personal reflection
- Practical application — How these truths shape leadership, generosity, suffering, and witness today
Sessions cover Pentecost, the first opposition, the gospel going to outsiders and then to Gentiles, Paul’s missionary journeys, the Jerusalem Council, the gospel confronting idolatry at Ephesus, Paul’s trials and imprisonment, the shipwreck, and the arrival in Rome. The study ends where Acts ends: with the gospel still advancing, still unchained.
Designed for adult Sunday School, men’s or women’s groups, or small group study. Each session runs 45-60 minutes.
12 sessions. Ages 35-60. $5.99.
