Walmart Wireless?

So I was at Walmart last night in Terre Haute, IN and I noticed that the connection center in Electronics was no longer there…

So I started to wonder if walmart was stepping out of activations and going to push more prepaid products. Then I checked out, and what did I see but a Walmart Wireless “store within a store” between Subway and a hair place. I don’t think we need to question what Walmart’s dealer aspirations are anymore…

    Yes Walmart is moving forward with the Front Of Store locations for their Wirless/Connection centers. I am the manager of one of these stores in Somerdale NJ. we just opened in november and the amount of activations we do have tripled from that of my last location. during set up the store planning team explained that you will see these in remodels/expansions and newer stores.

    Walmart has actually now moved away from the Front Of Store locations. I was the manager of our FOS and the stores weren’t bringing in the business they expected and we since then merged with the electronics manager. Sales did increase, but Walmart is now putting stores at the front for appliances that is staffed by an outside company, which I have seen in other stores. There are about a handfull of us Front Of Store locations in the Dallas/Fort-Worth area of Texas but to my knowledge no new ones are being built, ours opened in 2010.

    i am in one in Ohio and have seen several in Ohio i was in Virginia and they just put one in this year 2012 Walmart has a problem they don’t have a good direction with the wireless they will put anyone in them i have fought to get sales driven people put in mine and i cant get them. i think they should do stand alone like best buy and get a sales driven team with a separate sales driven CEO the head of the wireless at the moment is a hack and he does not seem to really care.
