  1. I voted for other because when I worked with some different organizations they did not take the time to understand the culture in which they were working with. For example If a Caucasian based ministry works in a Latino community and their flyers are all in English and the games they play are all suburb based games, how is that reaching the community and culture in the area that you are trying to minister too. Are we showing that we respect their heritage or culture? Integration is one thing but completely disregarding sets a tone that is hard to regain when you are trying to be part of their community. What if 1/2 the flyers were in English and 1/2 could be in Spanish and even the songs or work sheets so that it can reach more than just one particular type of people. Kids are kids and love games, snacks and attention. However ministry is to go deeper than that. Jesus met people were they were at and spoke to them in terms that they would understand whether they were farmers, fishermen, tax collectors or worked in the temple. Each relating to his words and came to Jesus as they were. This concept I feel is often lost and distorted causing ministry’s to only reach a certain level before going stagnant and never reaching it’s full potential.

  2. We are going through a transition within the leadership of our youth ministry. What we’re seeing is it’s incredibly difficult to get volunteers to commit to another night at church. We’re asking them to participate in groups during the week, their kids are involved in sports or other activities, and they’re already giving us Sundays.
